I acquired 23 books in November… I know. I fail. I tried to go on a book buying ban at the beginning of the month and made it to the 18th before I started mass buying everything I saw. I blame all of the Christmas sales for this. But having said that, only 12 of the 23 books were purchased by me. The rest were trades, ARCs and freebies I received. Plus I’ve read 4 of them already, if that helps my case (probably doesn’t)? Check out my November Wrap Up to see what I read.
BOOK DEPOSITORY
- Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) – Marissa Meyer. I have written a review of Winter.
- Ask the Passengers – A.S. King
I usually haul at least 10 books from Book Depository each month so I think 2 books this month is a massive improvement for me. I also pre-ordered Winter back in April so I didn’t technically buy it this month…
DYMOCKS
- The Winner’s Curse (The Winner’s Trilogy #1) – Marie Rutkoski
- The Winner’s Crime (The Winner’s Trilogy #2) – Marie Rutkoski
- A Step Towards Falling – Cammie McGovern. I’ve read and reviewed this one here.
- Sway – Kat Spears
- Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) – Richelle Mead
Dymocks is the Australian version of Barnes and Noble. They had a 20% off Members Sale in mid-November that I had to take advantage of. I bought all 5 of these books during the sale.
KINOKUNIYA
- The Complete Maus – Art Spiegelman
- Hark! A Vagrant – Kate Beaton
- Challenger Deep – Neal Shusterman
- The Weight of Water – Sarah Crossan
Kinokuniya is probably my favourite bookstore (I’m so sorry, Dymocks). It has a really big range of graphic novels, which I usually don’t go near because it’s a chaotic section that doesn’t seem to have any organisation, beyond sorting by publisher. But as I was walking past the graphic novels en route to the manga, I saw Maus and Hark! A Vagrant, both of which I’ve wanted to read for a while now. I also ended up picking up Challenger Deep since it won the National Book Award recently and I saw The Weight of Water while browsing and had to have it too.
TRADES
- Night Owls (aka. The Anatomical Shape of a Heart) – Jenn Bennett
- Love is the Higher Law – David Levithan
- Stealing Parker – Miranda Kenneally
- Catching Jordan – Miranda Kenneally
I traded these books with some other Aussie bloggers this month. I received Night Owls from Aentee @ Read at Midnight. Jaz @ Fiction in Fiction in Fiction kindly gave me the Miranda Kenneally books, which I’ve heard so much about over the years but have never picked up. And I traded with Sass for Love is the Higher Law.
BTCYA GOODIES
- The Peony Lantern – Frances Watts (purchased by me)
- A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird #1) – Claudia Gray (purchased by me)
- Ten Thousand Skies Above You (Firebird #2) – Claudia Gray
- Demon Road (Demon Road #1) – Derek Landy
- Lady Helen and the Dark Days Club (Lady Helen #1) – Alison Goodman
I attended a HarperCollins YA event in November and received a goodie bag to take home that included a copy of Demon Road, an ARC of Lady Helen and the Dark Days Club, as well as some posters. I won a signed copy of Ten Thousand Skies Above You on the night during a YA trivia game. The other two books were purchased by me on the night, courtesy of Dymocks… maybe I should have put this in the Dymocks section above?
e-ARCs
- A Study in Charlotte (A Study in Charlotte #1) – Brittany Cavallaro
- Dreamology – Lucy Keating
- Symptoms of Being Human – Jeff Garvin
I promise to try to buy less books in December! There are some Book Depository orders from November that I haven’t received yet, but I’m going to try to limit myself this month. Keyword: try.
I blame on-line shopping… And the blogosphere! :). I read a review, go straight onto amazon, *click* and oops! I own another book! I admire all the bloggers who report their monthly book hauls – I’m too embarrassed to even admit it to myself…. 🙂

Same! I do the exact same thing. Whenever I’m browsing at the bookstore and see a book that somebody has recommended, it ends up coming home with me. This is actually the first haul I’ve done of the blog. I wanted to do one last month but I bought so many books I was too ashamed.

Impressive haul! I only acquired two books. XD

I am actually quite jealous of that. I wish I could restrain myself.

Hehe, notice I said at the end of this post that I was going to try to buy less this month? That’s already failed. I’m hoping to read The Winner’s Curse and Crime this month. Fingers crossed. Too many good books to read!

Such an awesome book haul! 😀
I’ve had A Thousand Pieces of You since the beginning of the year and still haven’t read it yet! It was kind of one of those impulse buys, because I really loved the cover so much! haha.
I also got a copy of The Winner’s Curse, which it seemed pretty popular, so I want to check it out!
I can’t wait to read A Study in Charlotte and Symptoms of Being Human! Can’t wait to see what you think about them. 🙂

I love the cover of A Thousand Pieces of You so much! And I just noticed how beautiful the writing on the spines are as well! On point! I hope the content is just as good. I’ve heard many amazing things about The Winner’s trilogy so I’m hoping to catch up before the last book comes out. The covers for those books are also beautiful. And hehe, I’m so excited to have my hands on some 2016 ARCs!! They sound wonderful so I can’t wait to see what they’re all about!

I was approved for a few 2016 eARCs, so I am excited about that! 🙂 I’ll be reading one this month; Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn.

Wait… it wouldn’t be instagram since it’s an eARC. But I probably saw it first on your blog or something!

Wow, so many books, I don’t know how you do this, ahha. I wish I could get this many books in a month!! 😀 A Thousand Pieces of You, and Ten Thousand Skies Above you, yaay!! I haven’t read the second one, yet, but I really enjoyed the first one! 😀
There’s such a hype around A Study In Charlotte, I don’t know whether I should add it to my TBR, or not…maybe I’ll wait for your opinion on this 😛

I don’t know how I do it either… I wish I could stop buying books! I need to cut down my physical TBR!! I’m super excited to start A Thousand Pieces of You. I’ve heard so many amazing things lately. Can’t wait! And I’ll probably read A Study in Charlotte really, really soon so I’ll let you know my thoughts!

23! That’s practically one for every day of the month!
I’m interested to hear your thoughts on A Thousand Pieces of You. I read it a few months back and while I didn’t hate it I didn’t have any especially strong feelings either. So far I don’t feel enough to pick up the second book. I had real trouble putting my finger on what exactly it was that wasn’t working so well for me. That said maybe I’m more interested in your review of the sequel. That way I can know whether or not the plot picks up a bit, haha. I hope you enjoy it. Honestly I think my reaction is just me being fussy.

Ugh it really is almost one book a day… BUT I am proud that only half were purchased by me. #progress?
I will probably be reading A Thousand Pieces of You and its sequel this month so I’ll let you know how I get on with them. I’ve heard pretty mixed things about the first book which is why I haven’t picked it up until now (and I only did because I won a signed copy of Book 2). But recently, I’ve heard lots of great things about it so we’ll see.

AHHH. SO MANY GREAT BOOKS! I can’t wait to see what you think of all of these Jenna – especially Winter and The Winner’s Curse + Crime as I absolutely adored those three. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous haul! ❤

I’m saying this about every book… but I’m hoping to read The Winner’s Curse and Crime this month! I can’t wait to hop on the bandwagon and join everyone on their wait for The Winner’s Kiss! I’ve heard amazing things about this trilogy so far and I can’t wait to see what it’s all about! I binge read Winter as soon as I got it and I absolutely loved it! Definitely my favourite sci-fi/fantasy book of the year!

Ah, just reading this post makes me feel so happy. 😀 All the books are simply gorgeous and are in mint condition, which is probably expected since they’re new. But the lighting! Like it’s so on point for lack of better words. And it’s so sweet you were able to trade/receive books from fellow bloggers! I wish I lived closer to everyone. I feel like no one lives on the southeast US (at least I haven’t met them yet)! XD

Oh thanks, Summer! Hehe that is literally the only space in my house that is appropriate for taking photos. There’s no natural lighting in that room either so it’s all artificial lighting… I love being able to meet up with other bloggers at events and trade books. It helps with making friends at events as well because we make arrangements on twitter to meet up (otherwise I’d just be sitting quietly in the corner by myself).

Artificial lighting and it comes out that nice? Omo. If I use artificial lighting, which I do sometimes, it comes out super yellow. Teach me your light bulb buying ways. 😉
