Top Ten Tuesday: Book Bucket List 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week’s theme is resolutions we have for 2016. I thought I would list 10 books that I want to finally read in 2016, and we can check back at the end of the year and see if I managed it. I’ve only chosen books that were published before 2016… I don’t see much point in putting new releases on this list.

1. Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell

This was the first Rainbow Rowell book I bought and now it’s the only one I have yet to read. I started it when I bought it, and read about 40 pages but ended up having to put it down because of real life. I definitely want to get to this one pretty soon!

2. The Hunger Games trilogy – Suzanne Collins

I didn’t really have any interest in the trilogy when it first came out but I ended up buying the boxset last year. I hope to finally read this trilogy in 2016 so I can find out why everybody loves it so much.

3. The Mistborn trilogy – Brandon Sanderson

I decided to splurge last month and finally bought the boxset so I have no excuses now. I’m super excited to read another heist story and I’ve only heard amazing things about it so I’m really keen to just jump right in.

4. The Shadow of the Wind – Carlos Ruiz Zafón

I don’t think I’ve met anybody who doesn’t love this book. I want to read some more translated fiction this year so I picked up The Shadow of the Wind a few weeks ago. Who can resist a book about books, right?

5. The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern

I’ve had this book for over a year and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it yet. It’s sitting impatiently at the very bottom of my TBR stack on my shelf so I’ll have to pull it out this year and finally read it.

6. Divergent – Veronica Roth

Notice how I didn’t say ‘Divergent trilogy’? I don’t really have much interest in this trilogy but I do own the first book so I want to get it over with and read it. I won’t be continuing on with the rest of the trilogy but at least I’ll be able to understand some of the references being thrown around the community after I read this first book.

7. The Unbearable Lightness of Being – Milan Kundera

I love Milan Kundera’s writing and I have had this book for way too long. I bought this about 6 years ago and I’m so ashamed that I haven’t finished it yet. I read about 70 pages the first time I picked it up but kind of forgot about it. I do remember really enjoying those first 70 pages though. I’ll definitely be reading this one from the beginning again.

8.Falling Kingdoms series – Morgan Rhodes

I wasn’t sure about putting this one on the list since I don’t own any of the books yet but I felt like I had to put it on my book bucket list because Jesse @ Books at Dawn has been telling me to read this for months and months now. I’ll try to purchase and read the books before the year is over.

9. The Complete Sherlock Holmes – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I bought the Barnes and Noble edition of the entire Sherlock Holmes collection about a week ago and I’m so excited to start reading! It’s a massive book with really tiny text but I want to read a little bit each month and, hopefully, finish the entire book by the end of the year.

10. It’s Kind of a Funny Story – Ned Vizzini

This is another book that I’ve had for a year now. At the beginning of 2015, I was kind of obsessed with books about depression and suicide, so I picked up this one. It’s sitting at the bottom of another one of my TBR stacks so I’ll be plucking this one out and giving it a read this year!

There are obviously a lot more books that I want to get to this year but these are the ones that will make me the most happy with myself if I read them.
