Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Adaptations that I Still Haven’t Watched

Here we are with another Top Ten Tuesday. This is a weekly meme hosted by the team over at The Broke and the Bookish. The theme for this week is book-to-movie adaptations so I’m featuring ten movies that I still haven’t watched.

1. The Hunger Games

When The Hunger Games movie first came out, I was going through an anti-dystopia phase so I pretty much resisted seeing this. I’ve been wanting to watch it lately because I’ve heard that all of the movies in the franchise have been really good, but I’m hoping to read the books first. (Translation: I won’t be watching the films any time soon).

2. If I Stay

This movie came out before I was even aware of Gayle Forman’s books. But I really enjoyed the duology so I want to watch this sometime before the Where She Went film comes out.

3. City of Bones

I haven’t watched the City of Bones movie and I probably never will. I’ve heard terrible things about it and I’d much rather watch the upcoming Shadowhunters TV show. I much prefer Dom Sherwood as Jace (I have doubts about the Clary they cast though).

4. Gone Girl

I’m not a fan of psychological thrillers. It takes me a really long time to get over them. But I’ve heard lots and lots of good things about this adaptation (and the book as well) so I might watch this one day. I need to build up my tolerance somehow right?

5. Paper Towns

I didn’t really enjoy the book – it was kind of just average for me. But I was really looking forward to the release of the movie adaptation because I wanted to see what Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne could do with it. Sadly, I was kind of busy during the period when it was screening… and I wasn’t excited enough about it to really make an effort to go to the cinema

6. The Maze Runner

I haven’t read any of the books and I know nothing about the plot, but I’ve heard that The Maze Runner movie is really good? I don’t have a burning desire to check it out but I could probably be convinced.

7. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

I really did not like this book and I had no plans to watch the movie when it was out. But I’ve heard some pretty good things about the adaptation and I think it’s definitely a story that works better as a film than a book. I might give this one a go.

8. Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesia

This one is an old one. I haven’t read the book but I remember watching the first 30 minutes of the adaptation a couple of years ago. It had some of my favourite Japanese actors in it and I’m sad that I never finished it.

9. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I put off watching this one when it came out because I wanted to read the book first. I finally read the book earlier this year and absolutely loved it. It’s now one of my all-time favourite books. Hopefully I can get around to watching the movie soon too because I already know that I’m going to love it!

10. Divergent

This is another dystopian series that I don’t have much interest in. I managed to get the hardback of Divergent for a really, really good price so I might end up reading it someday. I still have no desire to watch the films though because I have only really seen negative reviews for it… Yeah I think I’ll stay away from this one.
