This week’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is author collaborations I’d love to see. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the team at The Broke and The Bookish. I feel like I chose a lot of authors who have similar writing styles to pair together, instead of being creative and choosing vastly different authors. But oh well. Why change things up when they work?
1. Jandy Nelson & Gayle Forman
Coincidentally this was the example that Jamie from The Broke and The Bookish gave for this week’s prompt. I agreed so much with it! I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson is my favourite YA book, and the Just One Day/Year duology by Gayle Forman is also one of my firm favourites. I would love to see a collaboration between them. It would have the most beautiful writing!
2. Tahereh Mafi & Ransom Riggs
This is kind of cheating because I still haven’t read the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi… (I did recently read the Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children trilogy by Ransom Riggs though). I just had to put this down as a collaboration though because they’re a married couple. I think they’d work so well together and it would just be an awesome time!
3. Cassandra Clare & Rick Riordan
Cheating again because I haven’t read anything by Uncle Rick yet. Sorry! I will get onto that mission soon. One day I will be caught up. One day.
A while ago when I was at a Cassie Clare event, she mentioned that she absolutely loves Rick Riordan. So for Cassie’s sake, I’d love to see them get together and write a fantasy series!
4. Jenny Han & Becky Albertalli
Jenny Han and Becky Albertalli both write the sweetest books! I mean there are cookies and baked goods on almost every page of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and there are Oreos in Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda.
Yup, I want this collaboration solely because of food. I have a sweet tooth okay?! Who can resist cookies?
5. Patrick Ness & Maggie Stiefvater
I’ve only read one Patrick Ness book (as I’m writing this up I am reading my second, A Monster Calls), but I’ve been told by many that he’s a bit of a literary genius. Maggie Stiefvater is a jack of all trades and a genius herself.
What happens when two geniuses come together to write a book? Best. Book. Ever. Undoubtedly.
6. Sarah J. Maas & Sara Raasch
The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch are two of my favourites. They’ve both got AMAZING worlds and some fierce female protagonists. I’d love to see them come together and create another epic world and charming characters. Plus they’re both young and they could be besties (coz I’m totally in a position to decide this).
7. David Levithan & Patrick Ness
So remember what I said about Patrick Ness being a literary genius? To me, David Levithan is a literary genius. I’ve loved every single one of his books that I’ve read. They’re both incredible writers and I think they could come together and write a fantastic diverse book. It would have great writing and can you imagine the feels you would get? (coz feels are totally additive like that)
8. Maggie Stiefvater & Holly Black
Maggie Stiefvater is a really quirky writer and her books have a really great paranormal/creepy vibe (speaking from my experience with the Shiver trilogy and what I know about The Raven Cycle). When I read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black, I kind of felt the same vibe. They both write paranormal books set in creepy small towns.
9. Ransom Riggs & Marissa Meyer
I think this would be a really cool collaboration! I LOVE Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles and I also love Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. I would love to see a sci-fi series (maybe another fairytale retelling?) featuring peculiar children with special abilities. Or maybe the peculiar children from Miss Peregrine’s can time travel to the future?! I want this!
10. Sarah J. Maas & Susan Dennard
I think this collaboration is already happening actually. If you weren’t aware Sarah J. Maas and Susan Dennard are besties. It would be awesome to write with your best friend. I think they’d bring out the best in each other and they probably know each other so well that their book would be super seamless and cohesive. Plus the writing process would be so much fun!
Do you agree with any of these collaborations? Which authors would you like to see write a book together? And which released collaborations do you love and recommend?
Great choices!

I agree on the 3rd! I wanna see how well Cassie mash with good old Rick xD

From what I’ve heard about Rick’s writing, I think they’ll mesh well together! It would be cool to see what kind of a world they can come up with. And I’m sure I’d love all the characters!

I am particularly interested with no. 4 and no. 7!!! 😀 Gayle’s on my list, too!
By the way here’s mine: http://wp.me/p4ZhSl-iK! 🙂

4 and 7 are probably the two that I’m most excited about as well 🙂

It would be the most epic paranormal ever! I love their styles and they’d work so well together!

Cassandra Clare & Rick Riordan? Yes! I haven’t thought of them together for my list, but now I do.

It’ll probably never happen though since they have so many ongoing projects. But it’s nice to dream 🙂

Exactly! And you never know… maybe (a big maybe) some day they will.

Go read Percy Jackson! I bet it’ll literally take you two hours and it’s so hilarious as well 😀

I will! I’m just trying to decide which edition of PJO I want to buy. I kinda want the new paperbacks where the covers join up, but I prefer hardback. UGH.

Great choices!! Yes to Jenny Han & Becky Albertalli, those two would write an amazing book (and definitely one that would make me hungry, haha!) You remind me that I need to read more David Leviathan! 🙂

They should include recipes in their books for all of the cookies they mention. It’ll motivate me to make them even more!
David Levithan is amazing! You should check out Every Day if you haven’t already. It’s my favourite of his so far, but everything he writes is SO GOOD.

THAT would be the best, I’m sure I would start cooking way more, with that, haha! 🙂
I only read Will Grayson,Will Grayson, his collaboration with John Green, but I really liked his writing style! Every Day is on my TBR, I hope I’ll get to it soon, I’m so intrigued by this story! 😀

I love his writing style. It always gives me all of the feels. I have yet to read Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I’m trying to read more of his solo works first, but the concept for WG, WG seems so interesting! I’ll have to try it out.

Mafi and Riggs will hopefully make a book baby together one day. Its got the most possibility! Riggs and Meyer though, that would be AWESOME! I haven’t seen anyone else think of that!

I don’t even mind if it’s not The Lunar Chronicles. I just want to see the peculiar children in a different world. But it would be really awesome if it was in a futuristic world. It would be so much fun if married couples wrote together! But I guess keeping work separate is a good idea…

I would love to see Ransom Riggs and Tahereh Mafi collaborate to write a book! Eek, that would be so fabulous!
And I can totally agree with Cassandra Clare and Rick Riordan being a formidable book writing pair! I can already see the fabulousness of it!
Great picks!! 😊

Thanks Josie! If only all married couples could work together! I want it to happen so badly, even if it’s just a novella. And I wish Cassie Clare and Rick Riordan could happen but they’re both way too busy with their current projects. They still have a million books to write!

I’m so happy that CC and RR are busy though because that means MORE OF THEIR AMAZING BOOKS 😄

Yes! I agree! I’m surprised by how many books they can get out in a year. It’s amazing how fast they work!

You’ve paired off some authors several times. Serious business. They need to get down to writing those books asap Happy reading! Here’s my TTT https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2015/10/13/author-duos-id-like-to-read/

Hahaha, I just want more books from them!! They need to get on it (and I should probably finish reading everything else they’ve written before demanding more).

Jandy Nelson and Gayle Forman is basically a match made in contemporary heaven.
David Levithan and Patrick Ness would be an absolute powerhouse duo, I am all for this collaboration. Great picks.

Those would be like the two powerhouse duos! I think Cassie and Rick would be amazing too but I don’t think it’ll ever happen. T_T

I feel like Stiefvater and Black should be best friends in real life! They are both so quirky and funny in person. I think they could come up with something really interesting for us!

I feel like they would have the same sense of humour as well! I’ve never met Maggie but Holly is so funny in person! They’d have so much to talk about. I ship this so hard!

Oh I had NO IDEA that last pairing was actually going to be a thing! Then again I am not surprised hahah 🙂 And I would totally read a book by Maggie Stiefvater and Patrick Ness. That would be epic.

They’re writing The Starkiller Chronicles together but it’s just going to be available for free online and not published. Still, from what I’ve heard, it sounds like a super fun and entertaining book! And I’ll take what I can get 🙂

I would love to read The Starkiller’s Chronicles, on Pinterest it looks beautiful! I wonder if Susan Dennard and Sarah J Maas have any plans to publish it!
Patrick Ness and David Levithan is such a great pick! Same as Maggie Stiefvater and Patrick Ness. These are just fangirl dreams waiting to happen!

I don’t think they have plans to publish it. I think I heard that they wanted to just make it available online so that they could make it as crazy and f-bomby as they want it 😀 Sounds like a pretty good reason to me. I’m excited to read it though!
You just really love Patrick Ness, don’t you? I will get straight onto Chaos Walking! But omg Patrick Ness and David Levithan is actually my dream collaboration right now. The diversity… 🙂

I second the Maggie/Holly team!! You’re not the only one that hasn’t read The Raven Cycle. I think the last time I read any Maggie books… it’s been literally at least 5 years with Shiver. I actually remember liking it then (but I was a younger teenager so I don’t know about now, haha). Also, the Cassandra/Rick duo would be quite interesting! I still haven’t finished Heroes of Olympus, but it’d be different to see Rick doing some steamy romance scene. XD AND WHATTTT. Even though PJ is kind of middle grade, I think you’d enjoy it! READ SOME OF RICK’S WORK. Even though I promised several people I’d marathon TMI and CW with HP next year… We should read PJ together! (I’ll be rereading, of course. But I really need to do that anyway before I start Heroes of Olympus up again.) 😀

I read all of the Shiver books this year and I liked them. It wasn’t as bad as everyone says they are.
And I would love to read PJ with you! It would be great motivation to finally read it and maybe his other series too. Especially since I love mythology (even though I don’t know much). Plus it’ll be nice to fangirl together 🙂
What’s CW? Chaos Walking? I’m planning to read that either next month or December! And I keep forgetting that you haven’t read HP!! Or you’ve only read Deathly Hallows? Girrrrlll, get on it! The new illustrated edition of the first book is beautiful too!

The only reason why I’m skeptical and want to reread the Shiver trilogy is because my taste as a preteen was pretty funny. I think the main reason why I enjoy paranormal fantasy so much is because that was the genre that got me into the reading (well HP did but after HP I went to paranormal). Like I used to love Twilight, Hush, Hush, and all those books… Now I’m not so sure. But I’m happy to hear Shiver is Jenna approved. AND CW AS IN CHOOI FROM READ THINK PONDER, JENNA. HOW COULD YOU… But lol, I was being a little ambiguous with all those abbreviations. So not your fault! AND NO JENNA, SO MANY MISCOMMUNICATIONS IN THIS COMMENT. I have read all the HP books… just in a weird order. I read Deathly Hallows first and then went back to read books 1-6. 😛 AND OH MY GOSH, did you get the illustrated edition already? (Sorry for the excessive use of caps, I promise I’m not screaming at you or anything. It’s kind of more for emphasis than volume. Or at least when I use it.)

HAHAHA my first thought was actually Chooi but because you were talking about series I was like…wait Chaos Walking? I was actually pretty proud of myself for coming up with Chaos Walking. It took me a while to think of other CW abbreviations.
And yes! I have the illustrated edition! It’s so beautiful. Easily the most beautiful book on my shelf!!!!!!

Lol, I was pretty surprised when you came up with Chaos Walking! Speaking of Ness, I’m thinking about reading A Monster Calls tonight since I literally haven’t read anything for a while. I’ve been in a really bad reading/blogging slump these past couple of weeks. I blame it on scheduling too many posts at once (and partially becoming addicted to the show, Reign). 😛 And yay, I see you’re reading the illustrated edition!

Yes! Read it! It’s a super quick read and will hopefully get you out of your slump. I know what you mean about scheduling too many posts. At one point I had 7 posts scheduled and I just got so lazy during that time.
