Hey all! I feel like I haven’t done a tag for a while so today I’ll be doing the My Life In Books Tag, which I thought was really interesting. I was tagged by Cristina @ My Tiny Obsessions. Go check out her post and her blog if you haven’t already!

I loved both Just One Day and Landline and hopefully I’ll love Zeroes just as much the others!

2. COUNT YOUR AGE ALONG YOUR BOOKSHELF – WHICH BOOK IS IT?

the-dream-thievesI have multiple shelves so I chose my hardcover YA shelf since it’s my favourite 🙂

The Dream Thieves is the second book in The Raven Cycle, which I have yet to read. But I own the three books that are currently out so I will be marathoning them in November, don’t you worry! I’ve heard amazing, amazing things about it, so I can’t wait to finally read them! And I’m weirdly excited for the last book to be released, even though I haven’t started the series yet…

3. PICK A BOOK SET IN YOUR CITY/STATE/COUNTRY.

theflywheel narrowroadThe Flywheel by Erin Gough is set in Sydney, which is where I was born and bred. I absolutely love this book!

My second pick is The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan, which won the Man Booker Prize last year. It’s set partly in Australia and partly in Japanese Prisoner of War camps.

4. PICK A BOOK THAT REPRESENTS A DESTINATION YOU WOULD LOVE TO TRAVEL TO.

isla I could have chosen any of Stephanie Perkins’ books but I chose Isla and the Happily Ever After for this because this novel features so many different cities!

A lot of the book is set in Paris where Isla and Josh go to school but they’re also New Yorkers so parts of the book are set in New York City as well. I’ve been to New York before but I would totally love to go again! In the novel, Isla and Josh also take a trip to Barcelona (I think?) and that would be really awesome as well.

5. PICK A BOOK THAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR.

allthelight paperweightI don’t really have a favourite colour… but I love blues and greens. I particularly love forest green, mint, teal, aquamarine, navy (okay so any shade of blue or green).

I chose All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr because it’s got so many shades of blue. And I also really love the colour of Paperweight by Meg Haston!

6. WHICH BOOK DO YOU HAVE THE FONDEST MEMORIES OF?

harry-potter-and-the-prisoner-of-azkaban I had so many options for this question. My childhood was spent reading books by Enid Blyton – I loved the Adventures of the Wishing Chair and The Enchanted Forest. I also remember my Year 2 teacher reading Blinky Bill, and Snugglepot and Cuddlepie to us (I now own hardcover illustrated versions of those books).

But ultimately I have to go with a Harry Potter book because that series was my childhood. I chose my favourite, which is The Prisoner of Azkaban. It’s also my favourite of the movies!

7. WHICH BOOK DID YOU HAVE THE MOST DIFFICULTY READING?

ulysses This has to go to Ulysses by James Joyce. I read this back in June in celebration of Bloomsday (which is the day that Ulysses is set in – yes this massive book takes place within 24 hours).

This beast of a book took me 2 whole weeks to get through and I wanted to quit so many times during my reading of it. The writing was super hard to understand and my edition had almost 700 pages, even with the tiny text that it was printed in. The stream of consciousness sections just made me go “WTF?!” so many times!

8. WHICH BOOK IN YOUR TBR PILE WILL GIVE YOU THE BIGGEST SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT WHEN YOU FINISH IT?

the-complete-works-of-oscar-wilde I am a huge fan of Oscar Wilde. My favourite classic of all time is The Picture of Dorian Gray (though To Kill A Mockingbird is a very close second).

I’ve loved everything of his that I’ve ever read, especially his short stories for children. I ended up buying this Complete Works of Oscar Wilde in my last year of high school because I wanted to read some of his lesser known works. It’ll probably take me forever to get through but I’ll feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I do!

        Lol, I’m halfway too, and I’m certainly interested, but at the same time feel like I’m floundering a little too much. Like I’m finding excuses to not read instead of being obsessed with it. IDK. *shrugs*

            Yeah I really love Anon. I think there are actually quite a lot of chapters from his perspective, but he doesn’t get mentioned very much when it’s somebody else narrating (because they don’t remember him). Maybe that’s why you feel like he’s not really in the book?

            I think I’d like the book a lot more if Anon and Flicker were the main characters though. Kelsie and Ethan don’t do it for me. And just forget about Nate. He’s a bastard (hopefully I’m not the only one who thinks so).

            You know what, I think you totally hit the head of the nail here by saying that bc he isn’t mentioned in anyone else’s chapters it makes me feel like he’s not really in the book. You’re so right! Wow, they even make in “nothing” in the book. I thought/think it is beautiful how Flicker has Lily tell her stories and then has her sister tell her a story about Anon so she remembers him, so sweet. I love it.

            And about Ethan/Kelsie being the leads, yeah, same here, I don’t care much for them either. Nathan is your standard issue politician, IMO, selfish and manipulative who only uses people for his own gains. You’re not the only one who doesn’t care for him.

    This is really interesting tag. I absolutely adore the cover of Paperweight.

    The Pictures of Dorian Gray is admittedly a book that I tend to overlook but I’ll be sure to pick it up next time.

    So I’m not going to even try and figure out what your middle name is… but it would be really cool if it was Lynn. Then we’d be middle name twins. 😉 When my books used to be separated by genre, my favorite shelf was my ya paranormal shelf because, well, it’s my favorite genre, haha. And I think Infinite Jest will be the most satisfying read if I ever do get to it, lol… Just keep putting it off since the vocabulary and thickness is intimidating.

      Sadly, we are not middle name twins 😦 But it does have 4 letters 🙂

      I tried to sort by books by genre but I prefer that they match in size… so I have a mix of genres on my hardback shelf. Except my Shadowhunter books (and some of my other favourite series) get their own special shelf ❤ Maybe when I've collected enough hardbacks, I'll be able to split them by genre too. I LOVE YOUR RAINBOW SHELVES THOUGH ❤ I want to rainbow my own shelves but I can't because size….

      And omg Infinite Jest is over 1000 pages isn't it? I don't think I could read 1000 pages unless I was really interested in the book and/or heard rave reviews. Even Mistborn kind of intimidates me.

        Oddly, that’s the only arrangement I haven’t tried… Ordering my books to size. I’ve seen some booktubers do it and it looks so neat. But it’s going to be a long time before I try that. I dread taking the rainbow apart, it took me so long (and it’ll probably take me longer to organize it back to how it used to be). ): BUT THANK YOU. I’M OVERJOYED THAT YOU APPROVE OF IT. 😀 And, lol, yes. Infinite Jest is a monster.

          That rainbow looks so neat though. Don’t ever take it apart!! I want to get new shelves so that I have some extra room to play with my organising. Right now I just have them split into adult and YA and then sorted by size. I want to try something different but I have no more shelf space…

            I wish I had enough adult books for it to have its own shelf but I don’t. I read too much a ya! Also, I think I’m going to slow down on requesting on ARCs (as you can tell since I felt inspired to do that Sumemr Says post on that topic). They have been dominating my TBR lately. I had to put A Little Life down because of them (and I still need to read Six of Crows or else preordering was all for nothing). D:

            I waited to order Six of Crows because I wanted to read Grisha trilogy first but then Aentee told me to just read SoC. So I ordered it (and should arrive soon). But then Siege and Storm was 32% off on Book Depository so I ended up buying the whole trilogy a couple days ago and now I don’t know what to do. SoC will arrive first…but since I have all the books now I should probably wait and read Grisha first right? ARGH when you read SoC let me know what order you recommend!

            So I guess it’s settled that you’re reading Six of Crows before the Grisha trilogy? Then again you could easily marathon that trilogy in like a week (I did) and you read faster than I do, I think. These next couple of weeks will be midterm heavy though, but I’ll think about it. Thanks for the invite! 🙂
